It has been an exciting day on the course, with a change in the lead.
Gillian and Ozbe have taken over the front position, now riding around 3 km ahead of the chasing group.
Close behind, Toby, Callie, Santiago, Alfonsina, and Andres continue the pursuit, keeping the pressure on the leaders.
Mateo has chosen to stay back at Sierra Nevada (Checkpoint 5) to allow his horse to rest before continuing.
Further back, a strong group is currently camped at Checkpoint 4, including Daisy and Liam, Robin, Wiesman, Leo, Louis, Jaco, and Mariaan.
Chloe and Sofia are positioned near Lake San Martin, riding at a lower altitude. Sofia has lost a shoe and will need to take it easy tomorrow. They are currently about half a day behind the group ahead and half a day ahead of the riders behind.
All remaining riders are currently together in a safe forest area with good shelter, including Lexy, Nour, Isabel, Natasha, Marguerite and Mary, Mariano and Marguerita, Marcos, and Emma.
With a new lead established and riders spread across the course, the race continues to evolve as strategy, horse management, and endurance come further into play.
