The race continues with a strong push across the course.
The lead group, Toby, Callie, Santiago, Alfonsina, Ozbe, Gillian, and Andres, arrived at El Carbón (Checkpoint 6) around 4PM today. The decision has been made to hold them for the night to allow the horses to recover and help the field regroup after a demanding stage.
The second group, made up of Wiesman, Leo, Louis, Jaco, and Mariaan, is currently around 6 km ahead of the following riders. All of them were required to stop at the compulsory 12:00 hold before crossing the Pass of Death section.
The third group, made up of Daisy and Liam, and Robin, has reached Bajo Comisión, a safe location to spend the night before taking on the next stage tomorrow.
Chloe and Sofia have just arrived at Vet Check 5. Sofia has changed horses after losing two shoes and experiencing sensitivity in her back legs.
All remaining riders, Lexy, Nour, Isabel, Natasha, Marguerite and Mary, Mariano and Marguerita, Marcos, and Emma, are currently at Vet Check 4, getting warm and dry after a difficult night on the course.
At this stage, riders who are not able to reach Vet Check 6 tomorrow will no longer be in contention for the podium, shifting their race into a different rhythm focused on completion rather than ranking.
Saddely, Mateo is now out of the race, as both of his horses were too tired to continue.
